Arvest Surpasses Goal; Continues to 2 Million Meals

In only one month, Arvest Bank has surpassed the goal for its two-month long 1 Million Meals initiative; but that doesn’t mean they are finished with the campaign. They will now continue to try and reach 2 million meals.

Announced in early April, the eighth annual 1 Million Meals initiative challenges bank associates, customers and community members to fight hunger in the more than 120 communities the bank serves by providing meals to those in need. This week, the bank announced the campaign has exceeded one million meals, reaching the goal with more than three weeks remaining in the campaign. A total of 1,002,353 meals have been raised.

“This is a great example of what happens when our customers, our community and our associates come together for a cause,” said Kent Williamson, president of Arvest Bank in Springdale. “The support we get for this initiative year after year is incredible, and this year is no different.

“We’re not finished yet, though. We will keep working hard all the way through the end of the campaign.”

Arvest branches have been participating in the 1 Million Meals initiative by collecting nonperishable food items and monetary donations. These efforts will continue through June 2, with the donations given to the local communities Arvest serves later in the month.

In Sequoyah County, Arvest is partnering with the United Way of Fort Smith Area, Community Services Clearinghouse and the River Valley Regional Food Bank for the 1 Million Meals campaign. Every dollar raised through 1 Million Meals provides the equivalent of five meals for local, hungry families.
