Kindle Fire to Be Given Away at Library

It will be fun and games, and good reads, at Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library in Sallisaw during National Library Week.

Bethia Owens, librarian, said National Library Week will be held April 9 through 13, and associated events and activities will be held daily.

Throughout the week, a poster board will invite the public to share why they visited the library on a Post It note. While they may post as many times as they like, only one Kindle ticket will be presented for participating in this project.

April 9 – Monday is Book Selfie Day. Patrons may find their favorite book and hold it in front of their face, like they are reading it, while being photographed. The photo is sent to sanotices@eodls.orgemail. The staff will take the photo if requested, and present the ticket for the Kindle Fire drawing.

April 10 – Tuesday is Thanks for Popping In! Day. Free popcorn and punch will be served. Everyone’s punch cup will have a Kindle Fire drawing ticket. Just peel it off and enter to win.

April 11 – Wednesday is Library Trivia or Book Luncheon Day. Patrons may take the quiz and if their answers are correct they will receive a Kindle Fire drawing ticket.

April 12 – Thursday is Take Action for Libraries Day. At 11 a.m. the library will host a cupcake reception. Attendees will hear the National Library Week Proclamation read and see other entertainment. Letters will be available for attendees to sign showing their support for library funding. The letters will be mailed to federal and state officials and the local newspaper. Attendees will receive another ticket.

April 13 – Friday is Salute to READING Day. After school, in the afternoon, cookies and punch will be served to all children.

Owens said that, throughout the week, patrons may use the library value calculator link to determine how much they have saved by checking out library materials, and they will also receive a Kindle drawing ticket.

For more information contact the library at 918-776-4481.
