Pop Up Prairie Day Slated for April 7 in Sallisaw

The band BackRoads from Van Buren, Ark., will be playing at
Pop Up Prairie Day on April 7 in downtown Sallisaw.

Spring pops up on March 20 and Sallisaw’s Pop Up Prairie Day is not far behind.

The Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce spring Pop Up Prairie Day is planned for April 7 on the lawn at Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library in downtown Sallisaw.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Inspired by Deb Brown of SaveYour.town, Pop Up Prairie Day was held twice last year in Sallisaw, and was deemed “a huge success!” The day features vendors of all types, from antiques to zucchini, and attracts a large crowd.

Brown teaches how to market small towns and small town businesses, and will be holding another seminar on the subject from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on March 26 at the People Inc. Conference Center.

Both Pop Up Prairie Day and Brown’s seminar are sponsored by the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce. The 10-by-10 vendor spaces for Pop Up Prairie Day are assigned as applications are received, and the applications for booth spaces are now available on the chamber’s website. Applications may also be obtained at the chamber office at 301 E. Cherokee in Sallisaw. For information call the chamber at 918-775-2558.

The vendor booths are free.

Judy Martens, the chamber’s director, said vendors already signed up are New Baptist Church, Jennifer Hancock who offers handmade items, Megan Ballou of Lip Sense by Megan, crafter Janice Blackburn of Muldrow, and Barbie Soto of Sallisaw who specializes in pearls.

Food vendors so far are Ernie Martens, who will be offering his amazing barbecue, the Boy Scouts who like and offer hot dogs and hamburgers, and at least one other food vendor.

Martens said the band BackRoads from Van Buren will be providing the musical entertainment from10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
