Colorado Man Faces Charges in District Court

A Colorado man was charged in Sequoyah County District Court, Sallisaw, with unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.

The charges were filed against Demar Lorenzo Crawford, 36, of Trinidad, Colo., on Dec. 27 in district court. He was arrested at about 3 p.m. on Dec. 19, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) report filed with the charges.

The OHP report alleges Crawford was stopped on Interstate 40 by an OHP trooper for a seatbelt violation. The trooper smelled marijuana coming from the car and from Crawford who was the driver. A search of the car resulted in the confiscation of two pounds of THC infused edibles and two vacuum-sealed bundles of green, leafy substance, that weighed about 1.5 pounds and which field tested to be marijuana. Also found in the center console of the car was a loaded .40-caliber Desert Eagle pistol.

According to court records, Crawford remains in the Sequoyah County Detention Center in Sallisaw.
