Squirrel Fields III, 34, of Sallisaw was charged with two felonies and three misdemeanors in Sequoyah County District Court on Nov. 8, after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend.
The charges include two felonies – domestic assault and battery by strangulation and domestic abuse, assault and battery, and three misdemeanors – possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and threaten to perform an act of violence.
According to the arresting deputy’s report filed with the charges, he was dispatched to a rural county home where he spoke with the victim. She said her boyfriend, Squirrel Fields, had “punched her in the face and also choked her until (she) reached unconsciousness multiple times.”
She told the deputy that Fields started an argument, then choked her twice until she passed out. When he said he was going to get a gun and shoot her, the victim said she escaped out a window in the bedroom and hid in the woods until law enforcement arrived.
Another deputy found Fields at his own home, where the deputy also found a substance that appeared to be methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia on Fields’ person. Fields was taken to the county jail in Sallisaw.
At the jail, Fields told the deputy that the alleged victim had attacked him and that her injuries occurred when he attempted to defend himself.
Fields’ next court appearance will be on Dec. 20 on Associate District Judge Kyle Waters disposition docket.
