Marine Corps Officer to Speak at Veterans Ceremony


Members of the Carnie Welch American Legion Post No. 27 and the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce are preparing for the annual Veterans Day Ceremony.

The ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 on the lawn at Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library in downtown Sallisaw.

Frank Sullivan III, representing the chamber of commerce, will be the master of ceremonies.

Post members Bill Brown and Marion Brown will raise the American flag. Mike Mousakis, commander of American Legion Post No. 27, will provide comments.

Sullivan will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and Mrs. Dana Aydelott Davis will sing the National Anthem.

Justin Haywood will lead the opening prayer and Mrs. Holly Bormann will provide a musical selection.

Warrant Officer Daren Fowler, with the U.S. Marine Corps, is the speaker. He will be followed by the wreath laying ceremony. Judy Bibb and Susan Fullbright will conduct the wreath ceremony.

Haywood will then lead the closing prayer, followed by the 21-gun salute by post members.

Trevor Gray from Sallisaw High School will close the ceremony with the playing of Taps
