Fleeing Suspect Says He’s ‘God’

A man who identified himself only as “God,” was arrested behind Game Stop in Sallisaw Friday afternoon, in a trash dumpster.

Sequoyah County Sheriff Larry Lane said 9-1-1 reported a man was seen at a rest area on Interstate 40, who was described as “suspicious.” A deputy was sent to investigate.

“The man first ran on foot, then jumped into his car and led the deputy on a pursuit into Sallisaw. Sallisaw police used the stop sticks and got him stopped,” Lane said.

The suspect then jumped from his car and ran behind the Game Stop store, Lane said.

Lane said Monday, “As far as I know, we still don’t know his name. He just says his name is God. I believe he is to be sent for a mental evaluation.”

The man’s name was later found to be Lloyd Gordon, 28. He is listed as homeless and is being held without bond in the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw.

Lane said the man was “very combative,” and was tased several times, to no effect.
