4th Generation Family Re-opens Marble City Grocery

Judson and Marsha Bolin

“It’s exciting. It’s frightening. It’s hopeful.”

Those are the words of Marsha Bolin who, with her husband Judson, re-opened the Marble City Grocery on Oct. 5.

“That was the same weekend as the Marble City Fall Festival” Bolin said. “We worked hard to get ready. It was a whirlwind!”

The Marble City Grocery located just northwest of the town's intersection. The store had been closed for three months when the Bolins decided to buy and open the store.

The Bolin’s Marble City Grocery is the only store now in Marble City and can save a long trip for someone who needs maybe just a stick of butter, a cup of sugar or a drop of milk to finish cooking supper.

“It’s a grocery store and a convenience store,” Bolin said. “We want to offer all we can at the best prices.”

The store has everything from snacks to veggies, including a full deli where a shopper can get a fresh sandwich. Judson Bolin is also working on bringing back the gas pumps, his wife reported.

The Bolins and their grocery are already preparing for Marble City Trick or Treat Night which will be Oct. 28 this year. She said they will have candy and goodies for all little trick or treaters.

“Everybody tries to make sure the kids are taken care of. The store will be open with lots of candy,” Bolin said.

The Marble City Grocery will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Marsha and Judson Bolin will be operating the grocery with the help of their four children, including Gabrielle, 21, who lives in Muldrow with her husband, Kyle Garner, and Bolins sons Beau, 17, who graduates from high school this year, and Logan, 15, and youngest daughter, Madison, age 13.

It is a family affair, Bolin said.

“We are the fourth generation in Marble City. Our children are fifth generation. We want to make a living here. We want to do it for our children and for the community. We want to do it right,” Bolin said.
