Schools Ready to Open the Doors


It’s nearly Ready, Set, And GO! time to open the doors to the school buildings and send the kiddies back to school and Mothers will rejoice.

Classes for the 2017-18 Sallisaw School year begin Thursday, and students are undergoing orientation in all Sallisaw School buildings this week.

At Liberty Elementary School in Sallisaw the orientation for students in kindergarten through second grade along with open house was held Tuesday evening.

A pre-K meet and greet will be held during school hours on Friday, and pre-K classes begin on Aug. 14.

At Eastside Elementary School the orientation and open house was also held Tuesday evening.

At Sallisaw Middle School orientation for sixth grade students and new students will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the cafeteria.

At Sallisaw High School freshmen orientation is also scheduled for Wednesday. Freshmen arrive and meet in the commons area for a welcome and to pick up schedules from 1:30 to 2 p.m. From 2 to 3:40 p.m. the freshmen practice run to their classes.

At 3:45 p.m. a Diamond group photo will be taken in the gym, and at 4 p.m. students return to the commons for instructions about afternoon games.

At 5 p.m. a hot dog dinner will be served to students and their parents and at 5:30 p.m. parents and students meet in the commons area.
