Muskogee Man Drowns at Tenkiller


A 26-year-old Muskogee man drowned in Lake Tenkiller in the Crappie Point area of Tenkiller State Park on Saturday, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) Marine Division.

The OHP reported Joshua D. Burch was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Burch was reported swimming about 125 feet off the shoreline when he went under and did not resurface. His was last seen at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday and his body was recovered at 4:18 p.m. about 120 feet off the shore in water 67 feet deep. 

Burch was not wearing a flotation device, the OHP reported.
