Muldrow Woman’s Prelim Set for July 27

A Muldrow woman, accused of embezzling $427,699 from her employer, will have a preliminary hearing on the charge July 27, according to a court official.

Carolyn Louise Hignite, 45, was arrested March 27 for the embezzlement of $427,699 from her employer, Anchor Financial Services in Roland. Hignite is free on a $5,000 bond. She was released March 28.

Special District Judge Matt Orendorff will be the judge for the preliminary hearing in Sequoyah County District Court, court records indicate.

Hignite’s arrest resulted from an investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI). Anchor Financial Services reported the alleged embezzlement to the Sequoyah County District Attorney, who requested the OSBI investigate the case.

The charge alleges Hignite obtained the money through 122 false loans to fund her gambling. According to the OSBI, the embezzlement began at Christmas in 2012.
