Schools may have just adjourned for the summer, but Cathy Followell of Muldrow won’t let a little thing like that get in the way of preparing for next year.
Followell and friends are holding a “Gear Up and Get Ready” backpack and essentials collection for students, and are in the midst of a backpack collection.
Donated backpacks may be dropped off at Roland Family Dental in the shopping center beside Mazzio's in Roland and Broadway Joes Cafe in Muldrow. The goal, Followell said, is 1,000 backpacks.
She said, “Once we get our backpacks taken care of, we will move on to the lesser expensive items. Keep those back packs coming. This is going to be an awesome event for our kids.”
