Three suspects facing various drug and other charges in Sequoyah County District Court, Sallisaw, have entered not guilty pleas to those charges.

Duane Ray Bryant, 30, of Pocola, is charged with trafficking in illegal drugs, assault and battery on a police officer, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Joshua Lee Rose, 32, of Pocola, is charged with trafficking in illegal drugs and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.

Crystal Anne Rose, 33, of Pocola, is charged with trafficking in illegal drugs and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.

The Sequoyah County District Attorney’s office filed charges Feb. 1 against three suspects arrested in an undercover drug investigation on Jan. 29 that resulted in one police officer being injured.

Officer Blake Brunk was treated and released at Sequoyah Memorial Hospital in Sallisaw, and is now at home recuperating. He was hit by the car driven by the suspects and dragged 20 to 30 feet before he could escape. When the car began backing toward the officer he and another officer fired on the car but no one was hit. Bryant was driving the car.

The three suspects led Sallisaw police and deputies with the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office on a short chase before they were apprehended east of the Walmart parking lot where the encounter took place. According to the report filed with the charges, police confiscated two plastic bags containing a crystalline substance which tested positive for methamphetamine, a loaded .38-caliber revolver in a black holster and a black Crown Royal bag found to have about 28.9 grams of crystalline substance that also tested positive as methamphetamine.

The three suspects’ next court appearance will be on Associate District Judge Kyle Waters disposition docket March 29.
