Driver Transported After Rear-end Collision

A Sallisaw woman was transported for neck and back pains after a rear-end collision at about 3:30 p.m. Monday.

The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 64 in front of the new Sallisaw Family Fitness center east of Sallisaw. Fire Chief Anthony Armstrong said Sallisaw Fire and Rescue was dispatched to the scene at 3:37 p.m.

He reported Dayla Sanders was driving a Kia east on U.S. Highway 64 and had stopped to turn into the fitness center when her vehicle was struck from behind by a late model Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Ethan Philpot of Sallisaw. Armstrong said the air bags in the pickup truck did deploy and Philpot did not appear to be injured in the collision.

Armstrong said fire and rescue was on the scene about 40 minutes assisting with traffic control and the transport of Sanders.
