A vehicle crash on State Highway 100 in southern Cherokee County Monday sent one woman to a Tulsa hospital, where she was admitted, and five passengers to Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah where they were treated and released.
The cause of the crash was driving under the influence, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported.
The OHP trooper investigating the accident reported Holly Horney, 30, of Welling was driving a 2001 Acura SUV west on State Highway 100 at about 5:39 p.m. Monday when she failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the road and the vehicle struck a tree.
Horney was transported by Eagle Med to St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa where she was admitted and listed in stable condition with head, and internal and external trunk injuries.
A passenger in the vehicle, Kayla Adair, 24, of Tahlequah, and four children were all transported by Cherokee Nation EMS to Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah where they were treated and released. The OHP reported the only one wearing a seat belt was a 2-year-old male who was in a car seat.
The OHP was assisted by the Cookson Fire Department. The crash occurred at about 5:39 p.m. Monday, 9.4 miles south of Tahlequah.
