Two Accused of Motorcycle Theft

Two men, one of whom is a relative of the victim, have been charged in Sequoyah County District Court in Sallisaw with grand larceny for stealing a motorcycle.

Chuck Weir, 47, address unavailable, and Albert Eugene Johnson, 35, of Sallisaw, both face grand larceny charges, which is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine up to $5,000.

The victim reported his motorcycle was stolen from a restaurant in Sallisaw on Oct. 21. Sallisaw police entered the motorcycle into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and were informed the motorcycle was recovered in LeFlore County on Nov. 5.

The information led to the arrest of Weir in LeFlore County. Weir told police a relative of the victim helped him steal the motorcycle because “he was mad” at the motorcycle owner. A warrant was issued in Sequoyah County for Weir’s arrest and return. He has a $5,000 bond.

When interviewed by Sallisaw police, Johnson reported again that the motorcycle was stolen by someone else – Weir. But when told of Weir’s confession, according to the police report, Johnson “changed his story.” He told police his was “upset with his brother” and while speaking with Weir he told Weir “how to start the motorcycle and then allowed him to drive (it) away.”

Johnson also has a $5,000 bond.
