Sallisaw Police Arrest Video Theft Suspect

Sallisaw police have arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly stealing video games worth over $1,000 from Walmart.

Jonathan Barnes is accused of stealing video games on several different occasions from several different Walmart stores. Barnes is believed to have allegedly been selling the games.

Police Chief Terry Franklin reported the investigation into the thefts began Nov. 8 when the loss prevention officer at Walmart reported multiple thefts of video games. The loss prevention officer reported that each theft was made by the same male subject on multiple dates. During the investigation officers were able to identify the male as Jonathan Barnes. Barnes was ultimately located and arrested at Walmart while stealing more video games.

Barnes was booked into the Sallisaw jail on charges of grand larceny and knowingly concealing stolen property. Barnes could face charges for thefts from stores in other communities.

Franklin said Barnes is currently on probation out of Muskogee County for committing the same type of crimes.
