County Under Burn Ban

Sequoyah County is now under a burn ban.

Sequoyah County Commissioners approved the burn ban at their meeting Monday. The burn ban will be in effect for seven days and will be reviewed by the commissioners at their regular Monday meeting next week.

Oklahoma Forestry Services reports the highest fire danger is in some eastern Oklahoma counties, due to the lack of rain, southeast winds at 10 to 15 miles per hour and temperatures in the mid-60s.

Forestry reported that over 150 acres have burned in the Lee Creek area.
