Old Settlers Day Offers Fun for Everyone

Muldrow Lions Club Old Settlers Day will be held Oct. 1 this year at the Muldrow City Park.

Festivities will run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and the festival offers shopping, food and fun for everyone.

Catherine Jones, Muldrow Lions member and festival organizer, said about 60 vendors are expected to be at the festival.

“We never know until the last minute when they sign up,” she said, and the many food vendors always include the Muldrow Friends of the Library popular caramel popcorn which sells out as fast as it can be popped.

The entertainment begins at 10 a.m. as members of the Muldrow Veterans of Foreign Wars raise the flag, and continues throughout the day. The groups performing at the park pavilion include the Little Bull Doggies, Fifth Generation and the Show Choir, all from Muldrow Schools, and the group Saving Grace Gospel.

“They are really good,” Jones said. Saving Grace Gospel is slated to perform at noon. Other local talent will follow.

Tad Rhodes continues in his role as the master of ceremonies, and sometimes invites festival goers to join him on stage to perform themselves, Jones said.

In addition to the playground equipment already at the park for the youngsters, bounce arounds and pony rides will also be available for their enjoyment as well.

Adults may also grab a ticket for a turkey drop giveaway to be held during the day.

Jones said, “We’d like for everybody to come out and join us.”

Money raised by the Muldrow Lions at Old Settlers Day is used for community projects and to purchase eye glasses for those in need.
