I-40 Round Up; Horses on Interstate

Sequoyah County deputies are conducting a horse roundup on Interstate 40, west of Vian.

Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart said a person driving a truck pulling a horse trailer stopped along the interstate, at about the 297 Mile Marker west bound, pulled over, opened the trailer, and unloaded two horses. The person then drove off, leaving the horses behind, and in danger of causing a crash on the interstate.

Lockhart said deputies are trying to round up the horses as of 3 p.m. Monday. Drivers are cautioned that a round up is underway.

More information will be published as it becomes available.
