Joey Gray Arrested, Jailed for DUI

Joey B. Gray, 19, of Muldrow was in the Sequoyah County Detention Center in Sallisaw Tuesday morning on a driving under the influence charge.

Gray was stopped at about 2 a.m. Tuesday north of Muldrow by a Sequoyah County Deputy for driving erratically. He failed a breath test and was booked into the county jail at 4:03 a.m. Tuesday.

Gray is also facing trial on a conspiracy charge in Sequoyah County District Court in Sallisaw.

Gray’s conspiracy charge relates to the incident on Sept. 1, 2013, that left a young man, Christian Mayberry, with severe brain trauma. Joey Gray is accused of helping clean up the ATV crash scene where Mayberry was injured south of Muldrow before aid was called for Mayberry. Kyle L. Bannon, 20, of Muldrow faces the same charge in relation to the same incident.

Gray’s mother, Angela Gay, 40, of Muldrow is charged with conspiracy, child endangerment by driving under the influence and furnishing an alcoholic beverage to a minor. She is accused of driving the ATV and of leaving the scene.

All three were bound over for trial at their May 31 preliminary hearing. Their district court arraignment is set for July 21. Joey Gray is free on a $2,500 bond from that charge.
