Two teenage girls from Sallisaw were transported by Tulsa Lifeflight to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa Sunday evening after a one-vehicle crash one mile north of Marble City.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported the girls – one age 16 and one age 17 – were both admitted and listed in stable condition with head, trunk and internal injuries. The OHP does not release the names of juveniles involved in vehicle crashes.
The OHP reported the driver was Samuel Bush, 21, of Bunch. He was transported by ambulance to Northeastern Health Systems in Tahlequah where he was treated for head and leg injuries and released.
The crash occurred at about 7:31 p.m., the OHP reported. Bush was driving a 2009 pickup truck south on Highway 17 when the truck ran off the road to the right, overturned one time, struck a sign and overturned one-half time. It came to rest on its top, the OHP reported.
The OHP reported the cause of the crash was an unsafe speed on a curve. No one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt, the OHP added.
The OHP was assisted at the crash site by the Marble City Fire Department, Brushy Fire Department, Pafford EMS and the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office.
