Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce Celebrates a Great Year


Armstrong Bank was named the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce Member of the Year at the chamber’s sold-out annual banquet Saturday at the Sallisaw Middle School. Cheryl Mills, left, was the recipient of the Chuck Sainer Memorial Community Spirit Award for her work with the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce and other community activities at the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet Saturday evening. Ro Poindexter, right, presented the award. Poindexter was the recipient of the award herself in 2010.


Outgoing President Darren Girdner was presented with a gift at the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet Saturday evening at the Sallisaw Middle School. Judy Martens, the chamber’s executive director, presents the award.


Alex Eppler, 2014 Miss Oklahoma, was the guest speaker at the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet Saturday. She was suggested as the speaker by Ernie Martens, right, Sallisaw High School principal, who was impressed by Miss Eppler’s words to the 2014 graduating girls at the high school senior tea that year.

Eppler spoke on how to be a NERD and a community leader, and how to reach goals no matter what stumbling blocks may be placed in the way.

The theme of the banquet was Generations Working Together in Harmony, The Building Blocks of Success.
