Community Meeting Planned Today on Old Middle School

Sallisaw Schools will hold a community meeting at 6 p.m. today (Nov. 5) at the School Administration Building to hear public comments on the old middle school.

School Superintendent Scott Farmer said, “We want to get input from the public, to give patrons of the school system a chance to give us their input on the old middle school.”

The school system built a new middle school and moved students into the new school early this year. The school system then offered the property to the City of Sallisaw.

Farmer said, “Nothing is moving forward” about that offer.

The school system has leased the newer buildings in the old middle school complex to the Boys & Girls Club of Sequoyah County and the Cherokee Nation’s Culinary Program. The building in question is the older main school building.
