Sallisaw Man Sentenced in U.S. Court

Christopher Jacob Froehlich, 29, of Sallisaw was sentenced to 28 months imprisonment on three counts of wire fraud and one count of uttering a counterfeit security with intent to deceive in U.S. District Court in Muskogee. The defendant was also ordered to pay $4,851 in restitution.

The charges resulted from an investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspector and the U.S. Secret Service, and Froehlich was indicted in September 2014. The indictment alleged that, from Dec. 25, 2013 to March 24, 2014, defendant devised a scheme to defraud and to obtain money and property by means of false and fraudulent pretenses, representations and promises. It was part of the scheme that the defendant used his computer to create fraudulent accounts at various financial institutions. The defendant created these fraudulent accounts using the identities of other persons without their permission. The defendant also created and uttered counterfeit checks.

Froehlich remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals pending transportation to a federal prison where he will serve his nonparolable sentence.
