Fugitive Threatens to 'not be taken alive'

The Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Belfonte man who has threatened to "not be taken alive because he is not going back to prison." The man is described as armed and dangerous.

Sheriff Ron Lockhart said Thursday afternoon that Vincent Small, 57, is traveling between Uniontown and Belfonte. He was seen near Belfonte School, near State Highway 101 in northeast Sequoyah County, which caused the school to be in lockdown for most of the afternoon. Deputies have been searching the area, Lockhart said.

Lockhart stated Small is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds. He has grey hair and green eyes. Anyone seeing him is asked to call 911.

Lockhart said the sheriff's office has three outstanding warrants for Small's arrest. Small is alleged to have stolen a pickup truck in Uniontown about two weeks ago, Lockhart said. The truck was later found near the mouth of Webber Creek in Sequoyah County.
