Christian Mayberry on Witness List of Gray Trial

Angela Gray, 40, of Muldrow will go on trial August 17 in Sequoyah County District Court, Sallisaw. She is accused of failing to seek help for a Muldrow teenage boy after an ATV crash on September 1, 2013. That boy, Christian Mayberry, suffered severe brain injury from which he is still recovering.

According to First Assistant District Attorney Michael Ashworth, who is prosecuting the case, Christian is on the witness list as one who may testify at the trial. Mayberry and his family are returning from Florida, where Christian has been undergoing rehabilitation, to attend the trial.

The charges against Gray are failure to stop at an accident resulting in non-fatal injury, contributing to the delinquency of minors, and selling or furnishing alcoholic beverage to a minor. The charges allege Gray was driving an ATV when it crashed south of Muldrow. According to the investigator's report filed with the charges, Gray fled the scene and did not report the injured Mayberry. Consequently Mayberry lay for hours before medical help arrived. The charges allege Gray was driving the ATV and was drunk. The report indicates Gray fled the scene while Kyle Lewis Brannon, 18 at the time, and another teen allegedly left Mayberry laying injured and unconscious while the two cleaned up the crash scene by removing beer cans and a cooler.

Gray has pleaded innocent to the charges. She is represented by Gary Buckles of Poteau.

Brannon, now 20, faces misdemeanor charges of destroying evidence and obstructing an officer. He has pleaded innocent to the charges and is represented by Steven Ramm of Sallisaw. Brannon's case is also set on the current docket.
