Bennett Pleased with Road Work

State Rep. John Bennett (R-Sallisaw) said Wednesday he is pleased to see the tax dollars of his constituents at work on highway and bridge projects in the district.

"As a member of the transportation committee, I am happy to see our tax dollars are being used appropriately," Bennett said. "One of the core functions of government is to take care of our roads, bridges and infrastructure. As a member and previous vice chair of Transportation, I have worked diligently with the leadership at ODOT to ensure our district gets their tax dollars used to repair our roads and bridges. There are many projects currently going on in Sequoyah County and there will be many more scheduled for the future."

Bennett said the next upcoming project of the spring of 2015 will be the pavement of I-40 rehabilitation east of Vian at mile marker 303 extending east at a cost of $10 million. In the fall of 2015, there will be a grade, drain, bridge and resurfacing at Sallisaw Creek at two miles west of Sallisaw at a cost of $5 million.

"I will continue to work with ODOT to identify and provide funding to fix the infrastructure on our state roads in Sequoyah County," Bennett said.
