The candidacy of a Gore man, for the Gore Ward 5 trustee post, was contested Thursday. Bobby L. Warren of Gore filed the contest Thursday with the Sequoyah County Election Board in Sallisaw, and contended Detis Stricker was not a registered voter six months prior to filing a declaration of candidacy, as required by state law. Filed with the petition was a voter registration card dated Oct. 6, 2014, with activation on the same date. A previous registration card is filed with the contest, dated Aug. 22, 2000. A hearing before the election board is scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 11 at the election board at 110 E. Creek St. in Sallisaw. Candidates filed for the town elections Monday through Wednesday. The election is scheduled for April 7.
