A candidate for the Gore Ward 5 trustee post, whose candidacy
was contested last week, withdrew from the election Friday. Detis Stricker
withdrew after Bobby L. Warren of Gore contended that Stricker was not a
registered voter for the required six months prior to filing a declaration of
candidacy, as required by state law. A hearing on the contest, slated by the
Sequoyah County Election Board, was scheduled for Feb. 11, but has now been
cancelled. However, Stricker’s withdrawal leaves no candidate for the Ward 5
post. The municipal elections will be April 7.
