Cameron Hospitalized the Crash

A Cameron man was hospitalized in stable condition, with head, trunk and arm injuries, Friday after a collision with a semi-truck. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported Charles Farrar, 73, was transported by LeFlore County EMS to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, then transferred by LifeFlight to Washington Memorial Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The OHP reported Farrar's 2012 Honda Accord hit a 2012 tractor-trailer driven by Lewis Butler, 39, of Sacramento, California, at about 8:15 p.m. Friday, four-tenths of a mile east of State Highway 9A in LeFlore county. The OHP reported Butler was going west on U.S. Highway 271 when he tried to make a U-turn, and failed to yield to Farrar, who was driving east. Farrar's Honda struck the trailer, and Farrar was pinned for about 15 minutes before he was freed by the Pocola Fire Department. The driver and two passengers in the tractor were not injured. They were Scott Innes, 37, of Warrensburg, Missouri, and Dwane Dandy, 46, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The OHP reported seat belts were in use in both vehicles, and the Honda air bag did deploy. Highway 271 was closed for about one hour while the OHP cleared the accident. By Sally Maxwell, Senior News Director
