At approximately 5:51 p.m., the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Dept. was dispatched to a residence near Cottonwood Road on E 1100 Road near Muldrow to respond to a shooting. Upon arriving deputies found a 70 year old male with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the location of the shooting, deputies took a 40 year old male into custody. The suspect is believed to be the son of the victim. No other details or names are being released at this time.
According to Sheriff Lockhart, the body of the victim will be taken to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
