Heavener Man Hospitalized after Wreck

A 61-year-old Heavener man was hospitalized Tuesday after a wreck south of Poteau in LeFlore County. Joe Paul Smith was transported by Life Flight to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa with trunk and internal injuries, and was listed in stable condition. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported Smith was driving his 2001 Sonoma west on U.S. Highway 270 when he departed the road to the north, overcorrected, and left the road on the south side, overturning one-half time. The vehicle came to rest on its top. The vehicle's airbag did not deploy, and it is unknown if the seatbelt was in use. Stay tuned to k KXMX or visit www.kxmx.com for the lqtest news.
