False Report Filed Regarding Stolen Vehicle

The Muldrow Police Department arrested Matthew McCormack, 27, from Sallisaw for filing a false police report. At 5:15 pm today McCormack told law enforcement officials that he was robbed by a white male that he believed to be Josh Bolin in the area of the laundry mat located at the intersection of Main Street and Highway 64. McCormack stated that Bolin pulled a weapon on him and his girlfriend and stole their vehicle, a 2004 silver Dodge Stratus.

The report caused officers to issue a BOLO for both the vehicle and suspect. A further interview of McCormack by officials resulted in a confession by McCormack that he had "made up the story" so that officers would believe and act on his complaint. Officers stated that they had noticed several discrepancies in his statement during the interview. McCormack was then placed under arrest and charged with filing a false police report.
