Convicted Murderer On Loose In Adair County


According to Adair County Sheriff David Hardin, inmates Carlos Locust and Michael Pack overpowered an Adair county jailer at approximately 10:30 pm yesterday evening. Both inmates were able to escape. Pack was picked up about 4 hours after escape. However, Carlos Locust remains at large. Carlos is described as a 6' 2" Native American male, with brown eyes and brown shaved hair weighing approximately 220 lbs.

Locust was sentenced to life in prison for the 1st degree murder in June and was awaiting transfer to a state facility. According to reports, Locust along with 2 other individuals beat a man to death on an Adair County road.

Authorities have classified the escapee as armed and extremely dangerous. At present Adair County Sheriff's deputies, U.S. Marshall's and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol believe Locust is still within the area and are concentrating their search within Adair County at this time.
