Chemical Spill In Sallisaw

Around 11 a.m. Thursday, Sallisaw Police and Fire Department responded to a hazmat spill on the corner of Elm and Creek.  The spill was coming from a semi truck that was making a delivery in the downtown area.    The semi truck also contained a barrel of fertilizer.

A hazmat team from Tulsa responded to examine and clean the spill.  At this time it's unknown what the substance is.

The Sallisaw PD closed off a 1-2 block radius and the Sequoyah County Courthouse was evacuated.  100+ inmates were evacuated and relocated to an undisclosed area.

Officials asked everyone to stay away from this area.  No injuries have been reported.
